Established in 2020, Kulaku Indonesia is a social enterprise dedicated to strengthening Indonesia’s coconut industry through an integrated approach that connects farmers, processing, and markets. By working closely with local communities and strategic partners, we create sustainable value across the coconut supply chain while improving livelihoods and delivering high-quality coconut-based products.

Why the Coconut Industry Matters
Coconut is more than an agricultural commodity. Known as the “Tree of Life,” the coconut plant offers opportunities for economic value and livelihood creation. In Indonesia, approximately 3.32 million hectares of coconut plantations are managed by smallholder farmers, supporting more than two million families.
Yet, the industry continues to face structural challenges. Average productivity remains below the potential of improved coconut varieties, while limited downstream processing means much of the coconut is still sold as a raw commodity, limiting value creation for farming communities.
Dependence on commodities such as copra also exposes farmers to price fluctuations. Diversification, value-added processing, and improved market access are essential to strengthening farmers’ incomes and unlocking the full potential of Indonesia’s coconut value chain.
